Tusk Legacy
Helping grieving families settle their loved one’s affairs
Product design and engineering in a two-person company
I co-founded Tusk Legacy to help families manage the work of settling a loved one's estate. My co-founder and I shared research and product strategy. I handled wireframes, prototypes, visual interface design, and development.
Understanding the work families faced
We interviewed people who had served as estate executors and worked with families currently going through the process. We also gathered domain knowledge from lawyers, CPAs, realtors, and bankers. The product brought procedural guidance, planning, and communication into one place.
From a guided checklist to a flexible workspace
Prototype feedback shaped the first product and helped us move from a guided checklist toward a more flexible, personalized estate-management tool. The design drew on project-management tools, boards, spreadsheets, and document organization to support the work of settling an estate.
I prioritized time-sensitive tasks and reduced visual density for people managing a stressful process. Search, bookmarks, and room to add information helped organize the details, while access to human help remained part of the experience.
